Rena Kimura
Member of the orchestra since 2017.
Rena Kimura is a member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra as of 2017. She used to be a violinist in the Richmond Symphony Orchestra in the US. She grew up in Washington, D.C., USA, and studied first at Indiana University in Bloomington under Kevork Mardirossian and then under Winfried Rademacher and Stefan Bornscheuer at the Trossingen University of Music, Germany.
During her studies in the US, Rena Kimura received several distinctions: she won the Glazunov Violin Concerto Competition, as well as awards at the Pancho Vladigerov International Violin Competition in Bulgaria, and the Beethoven Hradec International Violin Competition in the Czech Republic. In addition to her studies, Rena Kimura has also participated in Music Masters Course Japan (MMCJ).
Rena Kimura has appeared as a soloist on many occasions, including with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. and the Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also participated in numerous orchestra and chamber music festivals all over the world, including Thy Chamber Music Festival in Denmark, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Germany, and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and Spoleto Music Festival, both in the US.
