Gabriel Cornet
Member of the orchestra since 2016.
Gabriel Cornet grew up in Brittany, France, where he studied with Flore Kiss, Nadine Bodiguel and Paul Daniel. He was accepted to the conservatory in Toulouse where he was taught by Gilles Colliard, but he soon moved on to Paris where he studied with José Alvarez. During his years of study, he also took master classes with Olivier Charlier, Annick Roussin, Marc Coppey, Blagoja Dimcevski and more. In 2002 he won the National Young Musicians Showcase Competition in France.
For four years, Gabriel Cornet was a member of the first violin section of the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra. The orchestra’s repertoire spans a broad spectrum, from early Baroque performed on period instruments to contemporary music. During those years, he also participated in tours of Europe, Japan and South America. He was subsequently hired as section leader of the second violins in the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra in Norway.
Gabriel has played with many prominent orchestras in France and Scandinavia, such as the Lamoureux Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Orchestra and Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra. Gabriel is also a dedicated chamber musician and frequently plays in a string quartet and piano trio. Additionally, he is deeply dedicated to period music and works with ensembles such as Le Cercle de l'Harmonie and Le Concert de la Loge.
