Joakim Wendel
Member of the orchestra since 2004.
Joakim Wendel plays in the first violin section of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and has been an employed member since 2004. Before then, he frequently played with the orchestra as a freelancer, as well as with other orchestras, such as Stockholms Ensemblen and the New European Strings Chamber Orchestra. In addition, he has been concertmaster of the Jönköping Sinfonietta and the Sundsvall Chamber Orchestra. From 1984–1990, he was a member of the Uppsala Chamber Soloists.
Joakim Wendel studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where he was taught by Emil Kamilarov. A few years after completing his studies, through professor Sigvard Stenberg, he met Grigori Zhislin who, with his inspiring teaching and expansive knowledge of ergonomics, was the mentor who meant most to his development as a musician.
Chamber music is a major interest for Joakim Wendel and he has participated in Konserthuset’s chamber music subscriptions and in other contexts on many occasions.
