Bo-Gustaf Thorell
Member of the orchestra since 1982.
Bo-Gustaf Thorell has been employed with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 1982. He is originally from Enviken in Dalarna and trained, among others, with Harald Thedéen at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
In addition to his position in the first violin section, Bo-Gustaf Thorell is also active as a chamber musician and has performed on many occasions in Konserthuset’s Philharmonic Up-Close and Soup Concerts subscriptions, most recently in 2014 with Philharmonic members Mikael Sjögren on cello and Stefan Lindgren on piano in music by Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel.
In addition to his work with Konserthuset Stockholm and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Bo-Gustaf Thorel regularly performs concerts with pianist Maria Kihlgren. He has also performed as a soloist in Ernest Chausson’s Poème for Violin and Orchestra together with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Stig Westerberg.
