Valur Pálsson
Principal and member of the orchestra since 1991.
Valur Pálsson has been section leader and member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 1991. He studied at the Reykjavik College of Music, Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Conservatoire de Musique de Genève and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena.
Previously, he has played with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. Valur Pálsson is also a section leader in the Stockholm Sinfonietta and a member of KammarensembleN.
He can be heard on a recording with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra performing the solo in fellow countryman Haukur Tómasson’s Concerto for Two Double Basses and Orchestra. He is also a member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s Orpheus Baroque Ensemble and regularly performs in Konserthuset’s various chamber music subscriptions. In 2015, together with Joakim Svenheden, he was a soloist in André Previn’s Double Concerto for Violin, Double Bass and Orchestra.
