Hermann Stefánsson
Principal and member of the orchestra since 1995.
Icelandic Hermann Stefánsson has been section leader with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Stockholm Sinfonietta since 1995. He had previously held the same position with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra. Stefánsson is also a member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Wind Quintet and the Swedish Serenade Ensemble. He has been a soloist with many Swedish and non-Swedish orchestras, including the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he regularly participates in Konserthuset’s chamber music subscriptions.
Hermann Stefánsson is a professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and guest professor at the Academy of Music in Łódź, and he has previously served as guest professor at the Sarajevo Music Academy. He has also worked as a teacher at the Malmö Academy of Music and Piteå School of Music, and has guest taught at several universities in Europe and the US. In 2003 he received the distinction of Philharmonic Member of the Year.
