Erland Malmgren
Member of the orchestra since 1986.
Erland Malmgren has played in the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 1982, first as a substitute, and then as an employee from 1986. He studied with professor Gustaf Gröndahl, Berndt Bohman and Leo Winland.
In addition to his position as a musician in the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s cello section, for many years Erland Malmgren has worked with a union and he has been Konserthuset Stockholm’s head safety representative for 20 years. He has also periodically served as orchestra manager.
Erland Malmgren is a member of the executive committee of the Swedish Union of Professional Musicians (SYMF), where he represents Sweden’s symphony orchestras. Erland Malmgren is highly active as a chamber musician and in 2007, he started Grangärdefestivalen (“the Grangärde Festival”) in Dalarna, where he has also been artistic director.
