Jan Lundgren – Kind of Jazz

Jan Lundgren in spring 2026 – including a tribute to the classic Jazz på svenska.

An entire world is reflected in Jan Lundgren’s three concerts under the umbrella title Kind of Jazz. Following the success of previous years, the eighth edition of Kind of Jazz now brings a fresh series of creative encounters.

The first concert this year is a heartfelt tribute to one of the most beloved albums in Swedish jazz history: Jazz på svenska from 1964 – the best-selling jazz record in Sweden of all time. Jan Lundgren and his long-time collaborator, bassist Hans Backenroth, honour the groundbreaking musical legacy of Jan Johansson and Georg Riedel.

For the second concert, Lundgren is joined by German saxophonist Nicole Johänntgen and others. The programme centres around three giants of jazz: Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn and Thelonious Monk.

The final concert is a meeting between Jan Lundgren and legendary American saxophonist Joe Lovano – for decades one of the most influential figures in jazz. “A dream come true,” says Jan Lundgren.
