Sweden’s leading Django Reinhardt interpreter returns to Konserthuset Stockholm

It is as if Django Reinhardt’s irresistible music is in guitarist Gustav Lundgren’s veins. Now Gustav Lundgren is back at Konserthuset Stockholm’s Grünewald Hall, accompanied by three spectacular French musicians who are specialists in Django’s melancholy melodies and quick improvisational runs. This evening of Django Reinhardt also marks the legend’s birthday. He was born on 23 January 1910.

Gustav Lundgren has released over 700 songs and has over 40 million streams. Over the years he has worked with artists like Jimmy Rosenberg, Doug Weiss, Jorge Rossy, Bill McHenry and Lelo Nika, as well as Swedish House Mafia, Lisa Nilsson, Maia Hirasawa, Jonas Kullhammar, Kleerup, Miriam Bryant, Petra Marklund, Bo Sundström, Anne Sofie von Otter and many more.

In the past decade, Romain Vuillemin has garnered major acclaim in the world of gypsy jazz. He works with acclaimed bands like Umlaut Big Band and Collectif Paris Swing. He also leads his own Django Reinhardt tribute band: the Romain Vuillemin Quartet. In addition, he has accompanied some of the biggest names in the genre, like Adrien Moignard, Antoine Boyer, Stochelo Rosenberg and many more.

Guitarist and bassist Edouard Pennes is well known on the international gypsy jazz scene.
