School Concert – The Seven Wonders of the World
With Ayla Kabaca as our guide, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra takes us on an exciting journey through music.
For school years 1–3
The Seven Wonders of the World – what are they, and where can we find them? Ayla Kabaca is our tour guide as we take off with the help of music to visit the world’s seven modern wonders, together with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Norwegian conductor – or should we say pilot – Halldis Rønning.
We take flight to the musical sounds of Klas Backman’s vivid portrayal of an aeroplane, with roaring engines picking up speed before finally lifting off the ground.
Our journey takes us to the Colosseum in Rome, Machu Picchu in Peru, the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, and the desert heat of Petra. Each destination is matched with music that brings the place to life: The Death of Tybalt from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet (Colosseum), Hindu Dance from Carl Nielsen’s Aladdin Suite (Taj Mahal), El cóndor pasa (Machu Picchu), and the Chinese folk tune The Moon’s Reflection on the Second Spring (Great Wall of China) – to name just a few.
