Organ Matinee with Sebastian Johansson
A jazzy programme featuring music by Gershwin, Monica Dominique and others.
The organ matinee concert series, featuring some of Sweden’s finest organists, has grown in popularity in recent years. The organ in Konserthuset Stockholm is one of the most renowned in Europe, with its magnificent façade – and with 6,100 pipes, it is also one of the largest.
In addition to the classical repertoire, organist Sebastian Johansson enjoys playing jazz and pop. At his previous appearance in Konserthuset Stockholm’s organ series, he was a great success with a programme that featured both Bach and Avicii.
Now he returns to Konserthuset with a jazz-themed concert. Experience organ renditions of classic jazz numbers such as Take the A Train, Ellington’s Come Sunday and Bart Howard’s Fly Me to the Moon. The programme also includes Monica Dominique’s beautiful Tillägnan (Dedication) and two of Gershwin’s most iconic pieces: I Got Rhythm and Rhapsody in Blue.
