Swedish American Line
A tribute to the cultural exchange between Sweden and the US, with the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir.
Swedish American Line offered ocean liner service for the route Gothenburg-–New York from 1915 and six decades on, with interruptions during the second world war.
In a broad and varied programme, the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir is the intermediary of musical ties between Sweden and the US – if not direct so in a spiritual sense, with Swedish and American music mainly from our present time. Among these Ingvar Lidholm’s (1921–2017) Five Haiku Poems, newly discovered and premiered a couple of days before this concert, and Swedish-American Daniel Nelson’s The New Colossus, also premiered recently.
The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir was founded in 1945 by Eric Ericson, and since then it has taken a central role in the Swedish and international music scenes. The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra have enjoyed a close partnership since 2003.
