Konstmusiksystrar – Damkapellet
Danish musical collective Damkapellet for the first time at Konserthuset.
Danish Damkapellet is a feminist collective based in Copenhagen. As with the Swedish music network Konstmusiksystrar, the focus here is explicitly on music by non-binary and trans people and women. The feminist Danish collective is presented here in partnership with Konstmusiksystrar. The programme includes Swedish, Norwegian and French music, with two world premieres.
Damkapellet was founded in 2016 by Swedish Mika Persdotter Svensson. Ever since, the group has been dedicated to concerts as well as other events and lectures addressing gender structures.
Damkapellet currently consists of 20 members from Copenhagen, Malmö and Oslo. Numerous focuses and areas of interest are represented here, including early music, contemporary music, original compositions and improvisation. This concert features Tove Bagge viola, Hannah-Rae Hampson cello, Nadia Okrusko piano, Irene Bianco percussion and Josefine Weber Hansen soprano.
