Rising Stars is a unique and forward-looking collaboration between 22 of Europe’s leading concert halls, all members of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Six young musicians and ensembles from various countries are selected each year and given the opportunity to tour the concert halls and perform before international audiences.
Dutch recorder player Lucie Horsch (born 1999) began playing at the age of five and garnered attention on television at the age of nine. She now has an international, multi-award winning career. Lucie Horsch is considered one of the most talented recorder players to emerge on the scene in recent years.
Her programme reflects the fact that the recorder is primarily associated with the Baroque era, and that it has had a bit of a renaissance more recently, represented here through new compositions by Finnish Lotta Wennäkoski.
Telemann and Johann Sebastian Bach are key composers of the repertoire, of course. But we also hear pieces by female trailblazer Lucrezia Orsina Vizzana (1590–1662), who was active as a composer, singer and organist in her home city of Bologna, as well as the Venetian composer Dario Castello (1602–1631), known for his inventiveness and for being at the forefront of the “modern style” of his day.
Lucie Horsch was nominated for Rising Stars by Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear tomorrow’s classical music stars today. Experience shows that those who are selected as Rising Stars also have internationally successful careers.
Menu: Cauliflower soup with chives & crunchy almond garnish. The soup is served with sourdough bread, crispbread, whipped butter, and cheese as well as drinks and coffee/tea with a small biscuit. All the soups are lactose- and gluten-free. Please let us know any dietary requirements when booking.
