Fredrik Lindborg Trio & String Quartet
New aspects of Lars Gullin’s music along with newly written pieces by Georg Riedel. Release of a new album, with baritone saxophonist Lindborg at the lead.
On the International Jazz Day a concert centered around the music of Lars Gullin is presented along with new music by Georg Riedel!
Swedish jazz has since the 1950’s had a unique sound. The fire of American jazz mixed with the melancholy of Swedish folk music, evolved into a jazz dialect of its own. The great baritone saxophonist Lars Gullin composed music in this way.
Fredrik Lindborg, born in 1979 outside Stockholm, is a tenor and baritone saxophonist that has caught wide attention as a soloist and bandleader. He has recorded a number of albums of his own and guested many others. He not only plays his main instruments, but also the soprano and alto saxophone, the clarinet and bass clarinet.
Lindborg is, together with the musicians performing here, featured on the recently released album A Swedish Portrait, where he finds his own approach to the music of Lars Gullin, the swing and joy of it as well as bringing its ingredients of folk music and classical to the surface.
