New Friday with 40f

New Friday is the series for anyone who is curious and interested in exploring the new music of our era.

Not very often do we get to hear new compositions for four flutes, but now you will have the chance when quartet 40f comes to Konserthuset. The four flute players – Anna Svensdotter, Jill Widén, Ann Elkjär and Åsa Karlberg – are versatile freelance musicians who also perform in various ensembles in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic region.

The ensemble performed their first concert in 2008 at Atalante in Gothenburg and since then, they have played stages such as Musikverein in Vienna as well as the International Low Flutes Festival in Japan. The quartet focuses primarily on contemporary music and frequently features Swedish composers. The programme they will present at Konserthuset includes two new works for flute quartet: For Winds by Tebogo Monnakgotla and Punka (”flat tire”) by Ida Lundén. The ensemble 40f also performs pieces by Lotta Wennäkoski, Magnus Bunnskog, Anders Jormin and Malin Bång.
