Luca Guglielmi joins the Orpeus Baroque Stockholm

Harpsichordist Luca Guglielmi guest performs with the great Italian masters.

Since the formation of Orpheus Baroque in 2015 by Baroque-loving members of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the ensemble has also developed into an important meeting place for some of Sweden’s leading Baroque musicians. The ensemble plays period instruments and since it was founded, violinist Elin Gabrielsson (member of, among other things, Italian Europa Galante) has served as concertmaster and cellist Johannes Rostamo (solo cellist for the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra) has served as artistic director.

Under the vignette Orpheus’ treasure trove, we will see the ensemble in a smaller chamber music format. The ensemble’s goal is to continuously widen its repertoire and knowledge of the expansive field of Baroque, which spans over 300 years of music. Concerts with Orpheus Baroque are often led by top musicians in early music, and at this performance, for the third time Orpheus Baroque welcomes Italian harpsichordist Luca Guglielmi.

The repertoire at this concert includes music by some of the greatest Italian masters of early Baroque: Claudio Monteverdi, Dario Castello, Giovanni Gabrieli, Biagio Marini and Johann Rosenmüller.

The critically acclaimed ensemble collaborates with guest conductors such as Manfredo Kramer, Alfredo Bernardini, Dan Laurin, Peter Spissky, Göran Karlsson and Mariangiola Martello, as well as soloists such as Anders J. Dahlin and Kristina Hammarström. The ensemble’s goal is to continuously widen its repertoire and knowledge of the expansive field of Baroque.
