Monday at Last with Sascha Armbruster
String trio ZilliacusPerssonRaitinen is joined by a saxophonist.
Monday At Last! String trio ZilliacusPerssonRaitinen continues to welcome guest musicians to explore both old and new music alike, as always, in close proximity to the audience. This time, they are joined on stage by saxophonist Sascha Armbruster.
The concert truly lives up to the trio’s aim to play both old and new music. Included is music by Jean-Philipp Rameau, active in the eighteenth century, as well as a piece by French Betsy Jolas, who studied at the conservatory in Paris under Darius Milhaud and Olivier Messiaen and still very much active. A true discovery is also Jean Cras, French composer and marine officer, featured with his beautiful and original string trio of 1926.
To conclude a collage made up of shorter bits of music, mainly French but also music by the American composer (and piano virtuoso) Frederic Rzewski. His series of ”Spots” for four players are open for any choice of instrument.
