Semyon Bychkov
Semyon Bychkov conducts
The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra i led by Russian star conductor.
Semyon Bychkov was 20 years old when he won a contest and had his major breakthrough, and his career as a conductor has been radiant. He has worked with the world’s leading orchestras and his discography is comprehensive. He is currently working on a major Tchaikovsky project in close partnership with the Czech Philharmonic. He conducted the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra once before in 2007.
Violinist Daniel Lozakovitj is a phenomenon. He debuted at the age of eight at a concert in Moscow with the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. Since then, he has given concerts with a series of prominent orchestras and conductors. He has already appeared with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra several times; the first was at the Gärdet Concert in 2014. Now he returns with Mozart’s richly hued and melodically multifaceted Violin Concerto No. 5.
Michail Glinka is occasionally called the father of Russian classical music – he was one of the first Russian composers to become famous both in his home country and abroad. In Valse-Fantaisie, we will hear his phenomenal capacity to create shimmering orchestral sounds filled with lustful energy.
Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2 is his most positive and care-free. It is often called “the Little Russian”, as the folk melodies so clearly heard in the symphony originate in Ukraine, which was colloquially referred to as Little Russia in the nineteenth century.
