Nordic Saxophone Quartet
Nordic Saxophone Quartet
In the concert series New Friday, presenting contemporary music.
Welcome to New Friday! This brand new concert series is for forward-looking listeners who want to open their ears to the innovative music of today. In this subscription, we will meet in Grünewald Hall on four Friday evenings in a close-up experience with the music and musicians.
This evening, the Nordic Saxophone Quartet will take its place on the stage. This Swedish/Norwegian saxophone quartet was founded in autumn 2002 with the primary aim of performing and developing new Nordic music with the most significant composers from the Nordic countries. The quartet places great emphasis on presenting pieces so that the listener has a clear starting point for the music, preferably with an easy-going nature and spiced with a dollop of humour.
This concert is a tribute to jazz giant John Coltrane with music by Molly Kien, Katarina Leyman, Per Egland and Andrea Tarrodi, who will also be the focus of Konserthuset’s Composer Weekend in the spring.
