Karin Hammar Fab 4 with Olivier Ker Ourio and The Fab Stringz.

The jazz quartet Karin Hammar Fab 4 formed in 2014 and is led by trombone player and composer Karin Hammar. The ensemble has released two albums exploring the unusual quartet combination of trombone (Karin Hammar), guitar (Andreas Hourdakis), bass (Niklas Fernqvist) and drums (Fredrik Rundqvist).

The Fab 4 regularly tours Sweden and internationally, and has been acclaimed in Swedish and foreign press, including by the prestigious jazz magazine Down Beat. With over 6 million plays on Spotify, the song Uphill is an international hit.

Karin Hammar and her Fab 4 are currently at work on their third album, in which she has composed music for the unique combination of jazz quartet, string quartet and harmonica soloist The idea came to her in Tel Aviv in 2018, while playing with harmonica virtuoso Olivier Ker Ourio, one of France’s most coveted jazz soloists and band leaders.

The Fab Stringz is a string quartet formed exclusively for this project, consisting of Sweden’s top string musicians. They appear in large symphony orchestras, at our theatres, and behind popular Swedish musicians such as Orup and Skifs.
