About the video
- Filmed in March 2016.
- The video is approximately 2 hours and 7 minutes.
Jazz guitarist John Scofield has always had an open musical sensibility and never gets stuck in his own riffs. This emerges with distinct clarity as we encounter him in this concert with Konserthuset’s big band, Blue House Jazz Orchestra, and the leaders Peter Asplund and Magnus Lindgren.
With his unique sound and intuitive yet multifaceted style, even as a young man John Scofield landed in the most exciting musical contexts of the time. He made a record with superstars Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker before becoming a member of drummer Billy Cobham and pianist George Duke’s band. In the early 1980s he met Miles Davis, who immediately took him under his wing and turned Scofield into one of the world’s most influential guitarists.
The arrangement at this concert with the Blue House Jazz Orchestra is by Magnus Lindgren and Michael Abene.
