Australian James Morrison is a phenomenon. He plays not only the trumpet, but also piano, saxophone, double bass, and several brass instruments, primarily trombone. He alternates pure jazz with show-oriented pieces, and has performed his own work with the Tonkünstler Orchestra in Vienna; he has guest-performed with the Berlin Philharmonic and was invited to the White House by former President Barack Obama. He has played with greats like Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles and B.B. King.
James Morrison has recorded about 20 albums since his record debut in 1984. In addition to releasing records and touring the world, he composes movie soundtracks and is a popular teacher and artistic director for the Queensland Music Festival in Australia (where he has conducted the “world’s biggest orchestra” with over 7,000 musicians).
When asked if there is anything that he has yet to do, Morrison’s typical response is: “This is just the warm-up.” This is the first time this multitalented virtuoso will guest-perform at Konserthuset.
