With equal parts virtuosity and emotion, Ron Carter’s playing is world-renowned. In addition to the major names mentioned above, he has toured and recorded albums with Lena Horne, the Kronos Quartet and Wes Montgomery, among others. Beyond his phenomenal musical career, he also led the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Studies in Boston for many years and is also a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at City College of New York.
French Richard Galliano is also among the world’s top jazz musicians. He has collaborated with Chet Baker, Gary Burton, Toots Thielemans and Kurt Elling, to name just a few examples. He is enormously versatile and has also performed with French vocal icons such as Juliette Greco, Serge Gainsbourg and Charles Aznavour. His repertoire also includes classical works, and he is the only accordionist to have a contract with the classical record label Deutsche Grammophon.
Both Ron Carter and Richard Galliano are composers and here, we hear them in a unique concert with performances of their own songs and music by Astor Piazzolla and more.
