Blue House Youth Jazz Festival 2025

A three-day jazz festival, 21–23 March 2025, featuring workshops, lectures, concerts, and competitions for young people from around Sweden. You’ll find the registration link at the bottom of the page.
The Blue House Youth Jazz Festival is intended for members of big bands and jazz ensembles from Sweden’s culture schools, aesthetic upper-secondary school, folk high schools, and music colleges. The program includes three days of workshops and lectures with Swedish and international jazz musicians as well as several concerts, and culminates on the last day with the Swedish Big Band Championships and Jazz Ensemble Competition. The Blue House Youth Jazz Festival at Konserthuset Stockholm draws over 400 students every year.
At the Blue House Youth Jazz Festival 2025, performances will include Camille Thurman and the Darrell Green Quartet, Ababhemu Quartet, Mainland Jazz Collective, Mattias Windemo, Jan Adefelt, Bengt Stark, Stefan Gustafsson, Lina Löfstrand, and many more.
Programme
Friday, 21 March
11.00–13.00 Registration in the Konserthuset Stockholm foyer, Hötorget.
13.30 Festival opening in the Grünewald Hall. Concert by the Ababhemu Quartet – featuring Karl-Martin Almqvist (Sweden) on saxophones, Magne Thormodsaeter (Norway) on double bass, Nduduzo Makhathini (South Africa) on piano, and Ayanda Sikade (South Africa) on drums.
19.30 Concert with the Camille Thurman & Darryll (USA) in Konserthuset Stockholm's Main Hall.
Both groups will also conduct workshops during the festival.
Saturday, 22 March
The festival continues at the Royal College of Music with workshops and a lunchtime concert featuring Mainland Jazzcollective.
Sunday, 23 March
Competitions for big bands and smaller jazz ensembles will be held in Konserthuset Stockholm's Main Hall and Grünewald Hall. The public is welcome to attend free of charge. The festival concludes at 17:00.
Accommodation
If you need accommodation in Stockholm, we recommend booking as soon as possible, as Kent will be holding reunion concerts in Stockholm the same weekend.
Registration and Fees
The festival is fully booked and registration closed.

Cancellations are free of charge until 31 January; thereafter, registration is binding.
Fee (musicians, band leaders, accompanying persons): 950 SEK per person. The fee includes workshops, seminars, a concert ticket for Friday’s jazz concert, refreshments, and a T-shirt.
