Flute/Alto Flute, tutti

The audition takes place at Konserthuset Stockholm, December 2-3, 2024, after personal invitation. The audition repertoire will be announced later.

A successful pre-audition is needed to qualify for the in-person auditions. To apply, please submit a video recording with the requested repertoire (see below) latest October 14, 2024 to the link below.

Requested pre-selection repertoire

Flute I

• Johannes Brahms Symphony No. 4, Mvt. IV Allegro energico e passionato (bar 93-105)
• Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Scherzo (bar 338-385)

Piccolo

• Dmitry Shostakovich Symphony No. 6, Mvt. I Largo (4 after reh 8 to reh 10)
• Gioacchino Rossini Semiramide Overture, Allegro (bar 132-143, 190-195, 321-329)

Please record the requested repertoire in one take, without any cuts or edits and while remaining in frame for the duration of the video. Everything should be recorded in one joint video, in the order above and with no playing between the excerpts. We recommend the usage of an external microphone for sound quality purposes. We will let everyone know latest November 1 whether they have been invited to the audition or not.

Applicants with a prior similar permanent position in another professional orchestra and applicants who have successfully completed the RSPO Orchestra Academy need not to send in a recording to qualify for the audition and are instead asked to the orchestra management.

There will not be any repertoire for alto flute at the audition, but alto flute proficiency will instead be evaluated during the trial period.
